Starship Rx Mobile App Prototype
A pharmaceutical delivery service making use of Starship delivery robots, allowing you to order over-the-counter and prescription medications directly to your location.
Challenge
Accessing prescription and over-the-counter medications can be inconvenient, requiring manual orders, long wait times, and unnecessary trips to the pharmacy. Many users, especially those with mobility limitations or time constraints, need a faster, more automated way to receive medications without compromising security. The challenge was to design a streamlined pharmaceutical delivery service using Starship robots, ensuring an efficient, secure, and user-friendly experience.
Results
The Starship Rx prototype successfully demonstrated how autonomous delivery can streamline medication access, reducing manual effort while maintaining security and efficiency. Users appreciated the intuitive product selection, fast checkout, and real-time tracking, making the process more convenient than traditional pharmacy visits. Early feedback highlighted the potential of restock reminders, pharmacy price comparisons, and prescription verification features as valuable next steps.
Process
• User Flow & Navigation – Designed a structured homepage dashboard, allowing quick access to OTC and prescription medications, restocking options, and order tracking.
• Product Selection & Checkout – Created clear product pages with descriptions, pricing, and an intuitive Apple Pay checkout for seamless transactions.
• Real-Time Order Tracking – Integrated a live tracking system displaying estimated delivery times and interactive maps.
• Security & Accessibility Features – Explored Face ID authentication for unlocking the robot and a verified prescription submission system for regulated medications.
• Wireframing & Prototyping – Developed paper wireframes before refining them into interactive digital prototypes, improving usability and accessibility across screens.
Conclusion
This project reinforced the importance of automation, security, and accessibility in UX design for healthcare services. Designing for convenience without compromising safety was a key takeaway, and future iterations could incorporate expanded prescription services, enhanced user profiles, and an improved design system for greater accessibility. Moving forward, refining the overall cohesion of the product will ensure an even smoother user experience.
