The Bass Museum Mobile App Prototype

A Figma prototype enhancing museum engagement with an intuitive ticketing system and streamlined navigation for a seamless visitor experience.

Challenge

Visitors to the museum often struggled to find detailed exhibit information, navigate the space efficiently, and purchase tickets easily, which led to a disconnected experience. The existing resources were inadequate, leaving users frustrated when trying to plan their visit or learn more about the exhibits. The challenge was to create a seamless mobile app that enhances engagement by making museum visits more interactive, accessible, and user-friendly.

Results

The app significantly improved visitor engagement by making it easier to access exhibit details, navigate the museum, and plan visits. Users appreciated the streamlined design, and feedback highlighted the improved clarity of information and simplified ticketing experience. The project demonstrated the importance of iterative design and accessibility, ensuring that all visitors could engage more effectively with museum content.

Process

User Research & Personas – Conducted interviews and observations to identify visitor pain points and preferences.

Wireframing & Prototyping – Designed low-fidelity sketches and later refined them into digital wireframes to structure the app’s navigation.

Visual Hierarchy & Layout – Ensured exhibit information, ticketing, and navigation features were clearly prioritized for ease of use.

Usability Testing & Iteration – Gathered feedback on navigation clarity, ticketing process, and interactive elements, refining the app accordingly.

Accessibility & Readability – Implemented large fonts, high-contrast colors, and a simplified layout to enhance usability for all visitors.

Conclusion

Through this project, I refined my skills in instructional design, digital engagement, and content creation, making complex concepts more accessible. Teaching through Illustrator tutorials reinforced my understanding of design fundamentals and pushed me to explore new techniques. This experience not only helped others improve their design skills but also enhanced my ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively in a visual format.
